Winona have been making websites, databases and applications since 1997, working with people like Amnesty, Beggars Banquet, British Fashion Council, British Film Institute, Gingerbread, London Fashion Week, O2, Sadler's Wells Theatre, UWC and many more besides.
When we were asked to look into a new website for friends running a yoga school in Edinburgh we saw an opportunity. There was a fun creative challenge in refreshing the online brand of a much loved institution (open for more than 30 years). There was also an interesting technical challenge for the e-commerce and interactive elements.
There was an 'obvious' solution for the technical challenge, but our friends didn't want it. The obvious solution didn't fit and they didn't want to change their business practices to make it fit. So we made a system that worked their way. They liked it (a lot) and so did their students.
It wasn't long before we met another client faced with similar problems. This time it was a Pilates centred health group looking to freshen up their online identity and find an online solution for timetables and bookings at their busy clinics. They didn't want the 'obvious' solution either.
The Studio Reception system grew out of these experiences.
